Kanka Productions was founded during the production of the documentary film #resistayol in 2013. Based in Istanbul, Berlin and Dublin, we are a growing network of professionals working in Film, Theater, Fine Arts, Music and Story Telling. We create top quality interdisciplinary works with a Transfeminist vision. Our biggest aim is empowering ourselves and our communities through art.


Sound, Production

Ulaş P. Dutlu studied Turkish Literature in Eskişehir. Since 2010 he is working in the film industry as a boom operator and recorder. In 2016 he started working as a foley artist. He has co-directed the documentary film Voltrans in 2014. Since 2017 he lives in Berlin where he works in different productions and also on his first book. He is one of the founders of Kanka Productions.



İlksen Gürsoy studied Music at Istanbul Technical University State Conservator and has a Master’s Degree in Music from Yeditepe University. He worked several years as a music teacher. He got involved with the LGBTI+ movement in 2006 and since than plays an important role in raising Trans visibility. He was one of the members of the avantgarde trans man initiative Voltrans. With Voltrans he produced and performed in the spoken word performance “My Chemistry Does not Fit to My Skin.” He is also one of the producers of the Documentary Voltrans, directed by Ulaş Dutlu and Özge Özgüner. He have taken part in many theather and film productions as an Oud player including theather play Zabel and documentary #direnayol. He continues working as a social worker, combining his music and teaching skills, supporting refugee queer, trans, women and children. He is also one of the members of the queer feminist choir Korospular, queering the traditional lyrics of classical songs.


Director of Photography

Cemile Ceyda Kızıltuğ is born in Istanbul in 1988. She has studied Cinema and Television in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She worked as a camera assistant in numerous commercial, cinema and documentary productions between 2006 and ­2019. She is the DoP and light director for more than 40 short films. She is a board member of the Cinema Television Union.


Art Director, Consultant

Milen Nae gratudated from Bilgi University, Film and TV department in 2005 and finished her master degree in Notthingham Trent University Department of Fine Arts in 2007. Since 2008 she designs and tailors costumes for circus, dance and performance. She was the exhibition curator and project coordinator for Amnesty International’s Proudly Transgender in Turkey project. She is the costume designer for RedBull Anadolu Break Dance Show. Her works have been exhibited in Mamut Art Project in 2017. Since 2012 she is the art director of SumaBeach.


Actor, Performer

Bulut Sezer is an actor graduated from Studio Oyuncuları (Studio Players) Şahika Tekand in Istanbul in 2018 and became a member of Studio Players as an actor. He also performs in a contemporary dance project called “Dislokasyon”. He is long time involved in the LGBTI+ community as a voluntary activist and was part of Istanbul and Ankara LGBTI+ Prides in past years. He joined to Kanka Production team in 2017 and looks forward to produce with LOVE!


Writer, Storyteller

Ayşe Senem Donatan (Ph.D.) is a Storyteller, Workshop Facilitator and Researcher. She is a PhD holder in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. Besides her engineering career, Senem worked as a performing artist, director and dramaturgist in many art projects since 1998. Since 2013, her work has been mainly focused on storytelling. She tells traditional stories as well as personal stories on national and international stages. She writes her master thesis about Contemporary Storytelling. She is in the Executive Committee of Federation of European Storytellers (FEST). In 2006, Senem started to work intensively with women about body and voice awareness in healing processes. After establishing SEİBA International Storytelling Center in 2015 together with Nazlı Çevik Azazi and Şeyda Çevik, she combined this healing work with stories. She is one of the founders of Kanka Productions.


Actor / Producer

Nihal Albayrak is Istanbul based theatre player, performer and producer. Since 2004 she played the role of various characters in theatre plays, took part in independent contemporary art projects as a performer/producer, and worked as an organiser for numerous culture and arts projects. As an actor, she is a member of Boğaziçi Performing Arts Ensemble (BGST) and their plays have been involved in local and international festivals. She is also a member of Korospular, a queer feminist chorus, consisting of artists and activists. Nihal graduated from Economics Department of Bogazici University in 2010. She continued her education at Bilgi University’s Cultural Studies Department. From the beginning of her student years, she has been a part of voluntary organisations which focus on Women and LGBTI issues. She feels very well, when she has a chance to produce in queer-feminist perspective. In 2013 she joined Kanka Productions while making the music of #direnayol and she is very excited to work in this transfeminist production company.


Director, Producer

Rüzgâr Buşki is an artists, director and producer from Istanbul based in Berlin. Their artistic practice varies within printmaking, performance, video and film. They explore themes such as belonging, affect, desire and tradition. Buşki produces and directs hybrid documentaries by building empowering productions for and with marginalised communities, queering the rules of filmmaking. Buşki studied Fine Arts in Berlin University of Arts and graduated with a Meisterschüler title from the class of Prof. Dr. Hito Steyerl. In 2019 they received the Zeliş Deniz Queer Cinema Award. They are also the winner of Karl Hofer Prize 2019.


Spiritual Leader

Şevval Kılıç is an Istanbul based DJ and trans rights activist. She plays various forms of melodic techno and house in her sets. Şevval intuitively learned and developed DJing, and continues to perform in queer parties in Istanbul and occasionally in Berlin.


Producer, Writer

Ayşe Tunca was born in Turkey. She graduated from the Cultural Studies Department at Sabancı University. Then she studied Cinema at Lorenzo de Medici Institute in Florence, Italy.
In Istanbul, she worked in many places as an editor, translator and production manager. In 2012, she started to work for İZ TV, Turkey’s first documentary TV channel and produced more than 60 documentaries there until she moved to Berlin in November 2016.
In Berlin, while she was working on her feature film scenario, she met Kanka Productions, a multimedia collective founded upon transfeminist comradeship, and joined the team as the producer. They are currently working on an experimental documentary project.
